Servicing from the Gold Coast to Ballina

Air Conditioning

Air conditioning sized and installed properly.

Getting the size and the placement right does more for comfort and running costs than the badge on the front. We work that out properly before we quote, and because we are electricians as well as installers, the wiring and switchboard side is on the same quote rather than something you have to chase a sparky for afterwards.

Worth knowing

A few things that change the answer.

Sizing matters more than brand

An undersized unit runs flat out and never quite gets there. An oversized one is worse — it drops the temperature quickly, shuts off before it has pulled any moisture out of the air, and leaves the room cold and damp. Taking humidity out is half the job, not a side effect of it. We size off room volume, glazing, orientation and insulation rather than floor area alone.

The cheapest quote usually leaves something out

Compare what is actually included, not just the total. Brackets, condensate drainage, cable and conduit, penetrations sealed properly, make-good on the wall, commissioning, and the warranty registered in your name. A quote that is a few hundred dollars cheaper because it stops at the unit itself is not cheaper.

Where the outdoor unit goes is not just about looks

Put it in a hot, unventilated corner and it works harder for less output. Put it under a bedroom window — yours or the neighbour’s — and you will hear about it. Noise limits apply at the boundary, and body corporate rules apply on top of that in units and townhouses.

Older switchboards often need work first

A ducted system, or a couple of splits added to a house built before the 1990s, can exceed what the existing board and supply will carry. Because we are electricians as well as installers, that is a line on the same quote and the same visit, not a surprise on install day.

How it works

What happens after you call.

  1. 01

    Site visit

We look at the rooms, the roof space, the switchboard and where the outdoor unit can sensibly live, and talk through how you actually use the house.

  2. 02

    Written quote

Fixed price covering the unit, the install, any electrical work and the make-good. No day-of extras.

  3. 03

    Installation

A back-to-back split is usually a single day. Ducted work depends on the roof space and the number of zones — we will give you a realistic number before we start.

  4. 04

    Commissioning and handover

We test it under load, show you the controller properly, and leave you the paperwork and warranty details.

Questions

Things people ask us.

Split system or ducted?

Splits are cheaper to install and let you cool only the rooms you are in, which usually means lower running costs for a couple or a small household. Ducted suits larger homes, open-plan living, and anyone who wants it out of sight — but only makes sense with proper zoning, otherwise you are paying to cool empty bedrooms.

How long does an installation take?

A straightforward back-to-back split system is generally a single day. Longer pipe runs, upper storeys or difficult access can push it out. Ducted installs typically run two to four days depending on the number of zones and how tight the roof space is.

Will I need electrical work as well?

Sometimes. A single split often runs off an existing circuit, but ducted systems and multi-head installs usually want a dedicated circuit, and older switchboards may need upgrading first. We check this at the quote stage so it is priced in rather than sprung on you.

Do you service units you did not install?

Yes. We service and repair most major brands regardless of who put them in.

How often should it be serviced?

Clean the filters yourself every few months — that alone solves a surprising share of the faults we get called to. Beyond that, an annual service keeps the coils and drain clear and is usually a condition of the manufacturer warranty.
